The POP-EXPOSE

THE POP EXPOSE ‘Rambo First Blood to Last Blood’ By Mitchell Smith!

Rambo ‘First Blood‘ was released in 1982 and became one of the best post Vietnam stories of all time. I grew up watching Rambo and it was such a great series of films. Sylvester Stallone who most in 1982 new as Rocky, which that franchise is a story in itself, nailed the part of John Rambo, a special forces Vietnam vet. Stallone was successfully able to transform from Rocky and portray a different character who was completely badass. The post Vietnam era lead to a number of great war movies but I think this was the biggest movie about a Vietnam vet. Along with the success of the Rambo movies, based on the 1972 novel First Blood, came a toy line. Coleco produced a great number of Rambo figures and vehicles.

These 6 inch figures were pretty cool back in the day and came with lots of weapons and accessories. There was a knock off line M-Force figures by Marchon that were really cool in their own respect. They were slightly larger than the Rambo figures but came with some great weapons and were one of my favorite toy lines as a kid. There have been a few modern Rambo collectable figures that I have seen, but it would be cool if the new Movie Last Blood draws some sort of figures into retail. The 6 inch figures are definitely in as Marvel and Star Wars have both released successful lines in this scale.

A lineup of 6 inch Rambo figures would be cool, both modern and vintage style. The ‘Last Blood’ trailer looks really good and Stallone looks more badass than ever in the movie. This is one I might have to hit up in the theater as well as re-watch the original movies as it’s been decades since I watched Rambo. One thing that could also be cool is if Rambo did have a successful toy line, it might pave the way for a G.I. Joe rebirth. Online shopping is great just point and click, and finding a mediocre figure at 50 bucks a pop is cool and all, but I still enjoy the hunt and thrill of finding some cool military based figures at retail, it would be the cats meow if Rambo did put out something at retail. It might be wishful thinking on my part but either way this looks like it will be some of the best of Rambo kicking some ass that we have ever seen.
